I loved how the session had prompts to encourage and guide the discussions. These discussions were also really engaging, conversational and actionable. With the added zine-making activity, it was a great atmosphere for real thoughts, creativity and inspired sustainability action. Just as an honourable mention, the food and music added to the beautiful ambience too.

— about
Creating spaces where young people can openly explore and validate their environmental-related emotions is key to building well-being, resilience, and a stronger sense of agency. ZenCafe, designed by TEAP, is a conversation-led gathering grounded in African contexts and experiences, ensuring the space reflects the realities of African youth while centering creativity, care and community.
Taking place both in our Lagos office and online, these exploratory spaces have become powerful platforms for helping our community channel eco-anxiety into meaningful action and hope.
From vulnerability to dance and poetry, ZenCafes have become a staple of TEAP’s approach, and we have expanded this impact by training young people across the continent to facilitate ZenCafes within their own communities through our ZenGuardians project.
