Meet Our Climate Elders

Elder Desmond Majekodunmi
A renowned environmental activist and a multidimensional engineer, who has received many awards in recognition of his laborious works on agriculture and the environment. He has won the Nigerian Silverbird TV "Man of the Year" and DW German TV network "Environment Hero".

Elder Sola Alamutu
An Environmentalist, a Hospitality and Tourism Consultant, Cultural Activist, Children and Women Rights Advocate. She’s the Executive Director of Children And The Environment, CATE, which promotes environmental health issues amongst Children and Young people through the Creative Arts.

AnnKio Briggs
A Nigerian environmental and human rights activist. She is the founder and executive director of the NGO Agape Birthrights and convener of the Niger Delta Self Determination Movement. She is a spokesperson of the Ijaw Republican Assembly (IRA), and the UNDEDSS.

Celestine Akpobari
An environmental rights activist and the National Coordinator of the Ogoni Solidarity Forum-Nigeria. He is deeply involved in advocating for the rights of the Niger Delta region and addressing environmental issues. He speaks out against the looting of the Niger Delta and has called for street marches to address these issues.

Elder Priscilla Achakpa
A Nigerian environmental activist, Founder, and Global President of the Women Environmental Programme (WEP), which provides women with sustainable solutions to everyday problems. She has more than 18 years of expertise in development work and changemaking.
Elder Olanike Olugboji
An award-winning conservationist and women’s empowerment advocate. She is a founding member of the Women’s Earth Alliance (WEA) and Founder of Women’s Initiative for Sustainable Environment (WISE).
Nnimmo Bassey
An architect, environmental activist, author, and director of the Health of Mother Earth Foundation (HOMEF). He was one of Time magazine’s Heroes of the Environment, received the Laureate of the Right Livelihood Award, and the Rafto Human Rights Award.

Our Activities
PHC Intergenerational Party. Intergenerational SusTEAParty in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. We united elders and young people across the environmental sector for a day of collaborative discussions, knowledge sharing, and fun interactive activities.
Social Media Campaign. We recorded seven climate elders sharing their wisdom as climate change professionals and activists, along with their strategies for coping with the diverse emotions involved in protecting the planet.
